Survivor - Mount Field

High in Tasmania’s alpine regions, above 800 metres, the distinctive Pandani tree usually grows in tight family clusters. But this hardy little orphan was found clinging to life alone, nestled between the dolerite boulders of Mount Field in the state’s south.

On this winter’s day, with snow dusting the rocks and air crisp and still, the scene called out to be captured — a testament to resilience in one of Tasmania’s most beautiful wilderness settings.
