Frozen Moments - Cradle Mountain

Late August at Cradle Mountain transforms the landscape into a frozen wonderland. On our recent trip in August 2025, a powerful high-pressure system settled over Tasmania, delivering crystal-clear skies, heavy frosts, and those magical, icy conditions photographers dream of.

This image was captured at the iconic Ronny Creek within Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park, where entire fields of frozen Pandani trees stood glittering in the morning light. A rare and breathtaking scene, perfectly preserved in this photograph—one that truly showcases the beauty and drama of Tasmania in winter.
